SONNET

The Oukah has always tried to write perfect sonnets, that is, perfect in rhyme and metre. His Majesty thinks that most poets are lazy, sloppy and undisciplined. This sonnet, which is published in the Oukah's book, So Love Me Now, contains some intricate aspects, along with pure, simple rhymes, while expressing an important thought.

Of just what use are they who dare to think

That they are human, just because they eat

Of this world's vegetables and fish and meat,

As humans do? And just because they drink

This world's polluted water, wines and milk

They dare to think they have a right to be...

A right, for nothing, to reality---

A right to dine on steak and dress in silk.

But I have news for these deluded men;

The time has come for each to prove his worth,

The time has come to justify his birth,

To sing a song, or write a poem, or pen

Some words of love, to paint a portrait, give

A gift of inspiration, if they live!

The End.
